Not quite Hanover for me. Still on the hill though just (and only just) the wrong side of Elm Grove. Hanover Day is brillo. and Hanover is kinda special. You either love it on the Muesli Mountain or hate it. We've got Patchfest next weekend at the end of my road at the William Clark patch too.

Got a couple of Jewish hippies over the road who changed their names to something celtic and Cornish, students on one side of me and schoolteachers on the other. Lovely lady up the end of the road who has lived here for 50 or 60 years, an old boy at the other end who's lived here about the same. An old dear died a year or two ago who lived here all her life. We've got a real typical mix AND there's a brilliant video in Brighton Museum of a Silver Jubilee street party in my street.

Pubs near me are a bit hit and miss. The Franklin is a hole to be avoided but in 5 minutes I can be in the Hartington, Bugle, Park Crescent, Dover Castle, London Unity, Reservoir and my fave...the Constant Service.

If I were moving to Hanover I'd avoid the bottom end near the University residences in Southover Street especially since the smoking ban forces the students outside. Otherwise, as long as you're tolerant and laid back Hanover's lovely.
Don't forget the Cobden!!

Brighton
Beer Festival in September and some quailty pubs, then down to Fannys to get your fill afterwards. But as for Hanover day is just like your average last day of the season game...

Hanover

Hollingdeans great, lived there most of my life, funny enough parents moved there from Camden many years ago. not a long walk from town, regular bus service plenty of free parking and nice big gardens, also not far from the downs. More for your money in Holingdean than Hanover. Only one pub the Hollingbury, dont know what its like now was OK 10 or so years ago, but Lewes Road and Hanover are walking distance.

Wow let's start a hanover sub nsc - must be at least 3 of us now - 4 with you moving in.

I'll be there with the nippers - Hanover day is great - you'll love it! Loads of baby stuff on the stalls too. We've got babies both sides of us so your missus will settle in nicely.

PM if you want to meet up

Ewart street i think or theres one on southamtpton st we like, but there looks like students one side with crap curtains covering the windows !!

I will be the only bald psychobilly there, with a pregnant women moaning about the hill and heat !!

Just down the road from me I live very near the Dover Castle and used to live on the corner of Southampton Street and Southover Street.
Will look out for you, will probably start in the Napier at about one o'clock.

Oh and you will find students in every street off Southover Street, just some have more than others, be prepared for the litter as the "houses of multiple occupancy" don't seem to know or care when to put their rubbish out. Consequently the Herring Gulls go through the bags and leave a hell of a mess all over the street.

Whats this...............

"The People’s Republic of Hanover plans to declare independence on Hanover Day. You will be able to get your passport in advance or at Passport Control if you are coming in from Outer Hanover. Holders of passports will get discounts on the day"

sounds like fascism to me.........:p
