Driving South by The Stone Roses...I know this is from the second album with John Squire being rather narcisstic with the rock guitar solo's but he sounds damn cool on that track.

Good call! Most non rock fans will not have heard his other landmark solo on Eruption. However for a main stream pop record this was a landmark solo with some sweet two handed tapping and whammy bar action.


Seeing as people on this thrad are definitely mixing up guitar riffs with guitar solos, can i list my Top 5 riffs:

1) The Trooper -Iron Maiden- Main riff between verses
2) Sad But True- Metallica
3) Smells Like Teen Spirit-Nirvana
4) Princess of the Night -Saxon
