Greville Starkey RIP

Died today. I always remember his win on Shirley heights in the Derby, i had a double with a horse i believe called fair Salina, which may have been in the oaks, not sure. But Greville was always the jockey i looked out for in those days. RIP

I remember him saying before racing in the 2,000 Guineas in 1986 something along the lines of "if this horse loses, I'll hang up my riding boots". The horse was Dancing Brave which then duly won that race. Greville got it wrong in the Derby on Dancing Brave and Pat Eddery took over after that and the rest, as they say, is history.

RIP Greville.
