My mate loves Squire and asked me to put this-

Noel Gallagher going "woah" when John Squire started playing Champagne Supernova at Knebworth.

Nuff said.

Again I must mention the Only Ones - John Perry was perhaps the greatest guitarist I've seen playing live.

Bloody good call that, by the way he writes biographies now and he recently published a biography on Hendrix.

He had whiney solo on Another Planet but there was better stuff to be had somewhere, i will check thorugh Lovers of Today or something from Even Serpents Shine.

First concert I went to was Dire Straits

At the Dome before they really took off?

Carlos Santana for me, I also like Joe Walsh, especially his facial expressions when he gets to the tricky bits

Again I must mention the Only Ones .

And why not? One of the most underrated bands of all time.

However, greatest guitarist: Andy Gill of Gang of Four. Accept no substitutes. Anyone who's seen him play will know.
