Gold: My interest in Albion is finished
Birmingham chairman David Gold has revealed that his interest in investing in Albion is over.
The Premiership club finally pulled the plug today on a takeover bid by Hong Kong businessman Carson Yeung in a statement to the Stock Exchange.
Gold's interest in the Seagulls was dependent on the Yeung takeover going through, as League rules do not permit simultaneous involvement in more than one club.
Gold, speaking to The Argus today, said: "The deal with the Chinese is off. Our commitment to them is no longer in place.
"In effect David Sullivan and myself are back in charge of Birmingham, as their deadline has passed and the deal has not materialised.
"We are moving on. It is true that I am revitalised by the new manager (Alex McLeish) and a new, exciting era for us. I am chairman of Birmingham and will be for the foreseeable future."
Gold added that investing in another club "will now no longer be the case."
Are you disappointed that David Gold won't be coming to Albion?
