Do it Si.

Smoking is the most vile and disgusting habit I know.

Have a beer or something.

Have you read the Alan Carr book ? Worked for my housemate, gave up 9 months ago and not been near one since.

Takes 3 weeks for nictotine to leave your body - and the cravings to stop.

Highly recommend Allen Carr's book(s).

I find quitting quite easy, personally. It's the not starting again months later which is tricky.

Just think of all that money you'll save, which you can spend on beer and porn.

Marvellous.

You'll hate this, I decided to give up one day about fifteen years ago, never had one since and never missed it.

You could ask your GP for something to help. Ask him about a drug called 'Camprall'. It kills cravings.

Oh, sorry to tell you but you'll cough like a bastard for a few months, it'll pass.

You smoke a cigarette to feel as normal as those of us that don't smoke. (I used to smoke 20-30 a day until 13 years ago)

After an hour the nicotine starts leaving your body so it starts with the withdrawal symptons and you sink lower into feeling awful.

So you light up to take in more nictotine to make you feel normal.

The longer you go without a cigarette the less the withdrawal symptons and the awful feelings lessen.

You'll get there Trig.

i packed in smoking after 17 years of it, 4 weeks ago today. have not touched a cig at all in those 4 weeks. trust me each craving only lasts about 1 min. get through that minute by chewing gum you soon forget about the craving till the next one comes along. im still finding it hard from time to time, but it is much easier than it was. and i do feel better.
