Re the Flintoff captaincy, by the time he brought himself on he was the 4th bowler to be used and the Aussies were already 50-0 in double quick time.

Any other captain would have had Flintoff bowling first change. This is a direct consequence of Freddie being captain.

I'm not sure I agree. The problem was in picking Anderson. If they knew that the ball would only swing for about 15 overs, I don't really see the logic in picking 2 swing bowlers, unless they were hoping for some extravagent reverse swing, which doesn't really happen in Aus to the same extent it does here. They had to have Anderson on as first change as otherwise he wouldn't get a bowl with the new, supposedly swinging, ball.

My prediction for Day 2 is Australia all out for 600 and England 60-3 at the close.

I must be getting old, maybe I HAVE seen it all before?!...
