In London village.
unless its moved closer (and god knows they've tried) no its still holland. surprised no one has done a nerdy 'its the netherlands actually holland is a province' yet. still reeling from yesterday i suppose.

Surely the Dutch will collapse into a massive internal dispute that no one really understands well before the final ?

I still refer to them as the United Provinces, of course...

Holland for me as well, and for no other reason than we spent the night with 15 or so Dutch lads at a beer festival in Antwerp on saturday night and they were most enthusiastic to give us a splendid rendition of, ''We hate Palish and we hate Palish'' in between their anti Vitesse Arnheim songs.

If there is one national anthem more stupid than our own divisive durge, it is that of the Dutch where they swear allegiance to the King of Spain.

Seriously, why hasn't that been changed? There can't be people in the Netherlands who actually want that line in there, can there?

this is my point when you get all the year zero/post devolution insecurity talk about jeruselm being our national anthem etc.

the point is it may be be archiac and at first glance irrelevant and unrepresentative, but why not celebrate those anomolies in the name of repecting tradition? surely there is an argument that acknowledging our past rather than making up instant pot noodle traditions, no matter how contradictory it may be, is more appropriate for our ancient history dripping countries.

plus the dutch are too monged and busy watching bestiality porn and being massively tall, to care.

It's not swearing allegiance to the King of Spain though - it's an anti-Spanish song. It's the song of William of Orange who led a revolt against Spain.

One later verse says "Nothing so moves my pity
As seeing through these lands,
Field, village, town and city
Pillaged by roving hands.
O that the Spaniards rape thee,
My Netherlands so sweet..."

I don't think it's unreasonable to have a song of independence as a national anthem

The one I don't understand is that Dutch song about walking around town with their bedroom slippers on. What the hell is that about?

I want a national anthem that mentions ale, morris dancing and the unpredictability of the English weather.

I think the Gold Coast team have the best coach, but that will not make up for not shooting properly.
