Bob Grover has got a new band called The Dates, they've got a gig on the 12th of this month at the Freeebutt i do beleive. Or somewhere like that.

The band is made up of a couple of guys that drink in the Greys and the bar manager of the Greys.

'Well we all went down to the esplanade
Where the Watneys tastes like lemonade...'

'Boyfriend' was the other track

Sire Records made them change 'Watneys' to 'lager'
- they made them the lyrics to 'I Don't Want My Body' as well

"I don't want my body. it looks like a reject from an Oxfam poster
Sex is its hobby, I stick it in the slot like bread in a toaster'
..became 'eating's its hobby..' Paranoid or what?

The original Attrix version of the Piranhas' album (much better than the Sire one) is available on Cherry Red Records

Down the Vault supporting Wrist Action, then the Alhambra on the sea front on Sunday nights, then the Marquee in London....Piranhas!

Their best song of all was 'Paris Fashion' and it never even got recorded...

why does that always happen !!!

we played a few corkers in one of my old bands and they never got recorded, I do have some old tapes etc with live versions which in all honesty probably pack the best punch but the sound quality doesn't do it justice.

I've got spots and greasy hair

The Alhambra was a classic drinking hole. The winter nights with the fresh wind finding every split or broken pane of glass, rotten wooden frame and only the best wc's.

But always great people in there.

Aaah...memories.

And remember the Buccaneer when it was a proper pub: I saw the Stranglers there when the place was HEAVING. They'd never pack so many people in such a confined space these days.
