MP was never involved with player negotiations. DK did all of that and by and large did it very well, supported by Bob Pinnock who was always his money man. With TB a very busy man some of this support to Gus appears to have fallen to Brown. His record on anything is not good, frankly. It's unrealistic to expect Gus to have these skills: these days management is 99% a coach and tactics job.
So, we need Brown to step up to the mark or get someone in to do this role properly.
