BBC2 10 PM, bleak UK gangster film, Michael Caine is magnificent as the lead protagonist.

Think my favourite line is 'take yer bra off'A pint of bitter. In a thin glass!
That scene was filmed in the ‘Long Bar’ which is in fact the Victoria Comet opposite Newcastle station. On my next visit to Newcastle I intend to go into said pub and click my fingers at the barman and say those immortal words.A pint of bitter. In a thin glass!
Absolutely. Written and performed by Roy Budd. The soundtrack with the opening credits of the train journey to Newcastle is superb. The soundtrack is sheer brilliance!
Always found it depressing and rather overrated.
Bit uncalled for tbhyou’re a big man but you’re in bad shape
There's a lot of good lines in that film. Another one of mine is: 'You know, I'd almost forgotten what your eyes looked like. Still the same. Pissholes in the snow.'Think my favourite line is 'take yer bra off'
6 assuming Glenda didn't get out of the boot of the sunken car. Michael Caine as Jack Carter was seriously angry. He was so angry he couldn't even talk in a Geordie accent anymore. For those of you who are aficiandos of ‘Get Carter’ do you know how many deaths Jack Carter was responsible for in the film? Six definitely - maybe more?
I've always felt the same about Michael Caine and Jaws 4.Always found it depressing and rather overrated.
You can take the boy out of Lambeth, but you can’t take Lambeth out of the boy.6 assuming Glenda didn't get out of the boot of the sunken car. Michael Caine as Jack Carter was seriously angry. He was so angry he couldn't even talk in a Geordie accent anymore.
It has such a great cast to it as well. The first time I saw it as a kid I remember thinking that Alf Roberts from Coronation Street and Dave from The Winchester in Minder have been killed by Michael Caine for being evil bastards and the total opposite of their characters from which I knew them.It was suggested at the time that the character of Jack Carter was to be given to Ian Hendry. Hendry unfortunately was considered unsuitable due to his problems with alcoholism and was recast as Eric Paice. Michael Caine was then given the role of Jack Carter, which I believe, led to a lot of antagonism on Hendry’s part.
Bryan Mosley, aka Alf Roberts, aka Cliff Brumby, was a devout Catholic and reticent about taking the part in the film due to the amount of violence portrayed. It has such a great cast to it as well.
