Am picking up some odd anecdotal evidence that Pavilion Tories are considering voting Labour to keep Lucas out.

If stuff like this doesn't convince anyone we desperately need PR in this country, I don't know what will.

Rubbish, the Tories were less than 4k behind the Greens & 2k behind the firemen obsessed red woman (who is not standing) with UKIP involved & with 10k not registering, (the highest in the country- likely red or green voters) and some hating the Greens now, the Blues may not be the 50/1 (£10 on) outsiders the bookies have them at for a seat they have held for long periods in the past.

I won't go past the Conservative Swiss Tony banners until Friday on my way back from London onwards towards the footy. Suddenly reminded me of an Atilla - Barnstormer gig in Cambridge once after the footy where his band nicked one of these huge boards from outside a big house, and threw it into the crowd who smashed it up.

Even though the Tories have not held Pavilion since they lost it 23 years ago, they did infact increase their vote last time, however I wonder why Osbourne and Cameron who have both visited Hove have done nothing in Brighton. I think the demographic of Brighton has changed even in the suburbs - perhaps I should take in a tour of Withdean to catch some blue posters in windows - or is it still a Green Tree!

I only skimmed it but it strikes me as eminently sensible. We 'lost' child benefit during this past Parliament and I think it's the right thing to have happened. There are plenty of people far more in need than we are.

I err on the socialist side of the political spectrum but I agree with your sentiments that benefits should be more targeted. However, the fiasco with child benefit suggests no one should be confident that, even if they were successful on the 7th May, the Tories could not do it effectively. With CB, a family earning a combined £99k could still get the benefit whilst another with a sole earner on £50,001 would be affected (over £60k then the extra tax cancels out any benefit anyway).

You have to ask the question why haven't they done the same for things like the winter fuel allowance, ie why do all pensioners get it regardless of their personal circumstances. Perhaps their votes are too important?

Agreed, we're all in it together or not at all

We're never be in anything together under the tories, the majority of people on the street are skint.
Really ? What are you talking about ? Of course those living on the street are skint. A myriad of reasons why people choose to live on the streets. If you are seriously suggesting the average person is skint, have a gander around the pubs and restaurants of E Sussex and W Kent, many will be full to bursting this weekend

Ok I meant the average man on the street, the majority are living week to week I know this because 90% of my customers that come into the shop want the cheapest options available. You cant really judge the economy on a load of teens pissing away their wages on a Friday night.

to confirm, i disagree with it. at least, i disagree with the notion Miliband will do anything about it, he'll change the current slightly daft rules and introduce a bunch of new rules that foreigners can use so as not have their overseas earning taxed. they already have any UK income or money they bring in taxed, just not the money that stays overseas the cheaky scamps. its a good policy for the gallery though. and its good to see Miliband will be rejoining the election campaign.

As expected.

Popped on the TV and Ed Balls is on the BBC Breakfast programme.

What a frightful man he is. It immediately becomes obvious why Labour seem to have kept him out of the limelight in the campaigning to date. I'd do the same if I was trying to win but had the misfortune to have him on my side.
