IMHO would be a great signing, he got in the PFA League 1 team of the year and would a great player for Elphick to learn off.
Would be quite a high wage but because he's a freebie would save the transfer fee they were going to pay for Gordon Greer.

No chance he has gone for the bulgarian ex charlton player, Radotin Kihishev, on a trial and sounds like he will sign him and he 35yrs old so wont go for anyone like doherty now.

Well, we know we have Kishishev on trial, as explained in the official site article about the signings of Baz and Battipiedi.

Of course, being on trial and being signed are two different things and I can't imagine Gus will stop exploring his options because of one trialist.

Id rather Docherty than Greer anyday and as you say id be happy to pay him that 300k or whatever we are sniffing around greer with as a signing on fee if it kept his wages in line with the rest.

Wouldn't offer Doherty the whole Greer alleged fee, but agree that a signing-on fee is OK to keep his wages in-line... agree re your player preference...
