This starts tonight at 9pm on Sky Atlantic, with a preview thing at 8:30 talking to George R. R. Martin, the author of the books upon which the series is based.

I've recently started reading the first book in the aforementioned series, having learned about it via the hype for this adaptation, and have become thoroughly engrossed. If they've managed to keep the essence of the book (it's an 800 page story squeezed into 10 hours of telly, so they're not going to have been able to fit it all in) in the programme, then this should be a cracking watch.

Anyone else planning to tune in?

Saw the first episode last night on HBO – pretty good with quite a few Brit actors. Hell of a lot of characters so needs a bit of concentration. Plenty of gratuitous sex and violence. You can see they spent some money on it with some stunning outdoor scenes. All in all a good watch.

what the hell was that all about? thought it was a soft porn flick with all the titty and sex action! bet thats just used to draw in the Male audience for the overall series, shame about the swearing too....that ruins it for me as proper fantasy stuff does'nt include meaningless FUCKS and SHIT and all that bollocks!!

still it was OK and will hang in there for Ep#2...if only for the titty action!

Watching it right now, fair to say I think I'll leave the Missis to it and while a way the second half on NSC, what a load of utter TURD.

They've basically stuck to the content and language of the book on which its based. All of what we saw on Monday night is in the book.

Thought it was fantastic.... sticks absolutely to the book so what more could you ask. The problem with it of course is things havent got going yet... the Stark massacre is going to be HUGE and the attack on Kings Landing, not to menition (if we get that far) the blood wedding (series 5?)

Spoilers!!!

didnt you give much did I..... hehehehehehe

Hoesntly quite surprised by all the Mary Whitehouse's here. There was nothing pornographic about the show. True Blood was much more liberal.

Very good second episode. Some good character development – especially the villains (boo, hiss). I think the guy that plays Tyrion Lannister, the dwarf, is doing an excellent job.

Keep quiet about it , if Ofcom get to know about it they'll ask Sky to re-edit as any programme with scenes designed to sexually arouse you are now under scrutiny

Yeah, he's played the part perfectly thus far.

I've just finished reading the first book and am preparing to start on the second, hopefully the rest of this series will stay as faithful to the book as Episode One did. I also see that a second series, based on Book Two has been commissioned.
