Dunno if this has been mentioned yet?...

TREVOR FRANCIS is suing Crystal Palace for unfair dismissal.

Former Selhurst Park boss Francis has lodged his appeal at
Croydon Employment Tribunal.

Francis was sacked by chairman Simon Jordan towards the end of
last season after 17 months as manager of the First Division side.

Palace were in mid-table at the time, and Jordan had lost faith
in Francis' ability to get them back into the Premiership.

The legal action means reported compensation talks between Jordan
and Francis, who had two years left on his contract, appear to
have failed.

John Barnwell, chief executive of the League Managers'
Association, said it was rare for disputes to go to court.

He said: ''Certainly in my seven years there have been very,
very few. Most disputes are settled amicably out of court.''

I think it's quite appalling the way that lovely, talented man Treor Francis was treated by Palace. It's quite well documented how popular he was with his players and how he was adored by supporters.

To be sacked like that when he was doing a great job keeping Palace in mid table is dreadful.

I say he should get at least £4 million in compensation, plus punitive damages against Palace and a further million for hurt feelings and emotional trauma. £8 million sounds about right.

Add another £2m for the damage to his hand when he punched the keeper for laughing. This is emotional stuff.
