Because it is perhaps his best position. He is a strong tackler, closes players down and provided he keeps to short passes very good.

El-Abd was great, Forster was great, Murray was great, Thomson was great - they all played well. Personally, I really liked seeing a good passing linkman in Thomson - all good, nothing bad.

Forster's just such an intelligent player - perfect choice as captain too.

Very true. I can't even remember when we last had a genuinue decent strike partnership. For a long time we relied on one decent striker (Zamora, Knight) with a makeshift partner.
