If you actually want to change your name to "upthebutty" you can do it through the UK Deed Poll Service.

(you'll probably find the number on your internal directory)

However, they will not accept anything that

1. is impossible to pronounce

2. includes numbers or symbols

3. includes punctuation marks - although you can have a hyphen to link forenames or surnames (for example, if you want a double-barrelled surname) and an apostrophe in the case of surnames like O'Brien.

4. we consider vulgar, offensive, blasphemous or unsuitable

5. may result in others believing you have a conferred or inherited honour, title or rank, for example, a change of first name to Sir, Lord, Lady, Prince, Princess, Baron, Baroness, Count, Countess, General, Colonel etc.

take note Lord Bracknell

6. does not include at least one forename and one surname.

Have you considered a nice "upthebutty" tattoo instead ?

The ONLY person ever to mistake the Bracknells for real aristocracy is Ken Bodfish, Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council. It was a Falmer phone-in on Southern Counties Radio, Roz phoned with her contribution and Ian Hart addressed her as "Lady Bracknell".

After the show, Bodfish (who was a studio guest) asked Paul Samrah if Lady Bracknell was a life peer or an hereditary one.

:D
