Not a big fan of The Boatman's Call or Nocturama.

But Let Love in, Abattoir Blues, No More Shall We Part and Murder Ballads are great albums. I could listen to songs like Lay Me Low and Oh My Lord all day. Live DVD is quality too.

worlds shortest review of the the new album:

f*** YES

slightly longer review:

Oh Yes, Oh f***ing yes. That is a bit f***ing special, I welled up, I slapped my thights, I grinned and grimmaced and drank, then went back for more, again and again.

Not only a great album, a great Nick Cave album

the opening song is glorious yet misleading, it's not grinderman, it has filthy moments but is akin to a 'best of' of Abatoir Blues/Lyre Of Orpheus but better

if a better record is released this year I will be very f***ing happy

AWESOME

[controversial]*cough* Boatman's Call *cough*[/controversial]

I've got 22 Nick Cave albums (The Boys Next Door, The Birthday Party, the Bad Seeds, and Grinderman - and yes I did just count them), and that's the one I never play.

It may be the one most non-Nick Cave fans prefer, but it's just tooo bland for me.

Funny that, I had always thought I was a Nick Cave fan! In its lyrical bleakness, that album's up there with Cohen for me, and there can be no greater compliment.

It does also help that the Boatman's call has such an iconic album cover too.

Always reminds me of Neil Young's After The Gold Rush album

An album that still sounds fresh today.

I saw the great man in Hove this afternoon. He was rocking a nice red check shirt and aviator shades.

Sounds like the 8th is fast becoming an unofficial NSC "meat up".

Personally I have contrived to be in New York when Nick is in Amsterdam and Brussels - the two closest points for me...

Never mind, he will almost certainly be headlining the Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium this August, as he has done pretty much every 3 years for the last 20.
