Fitting, i think, that our worst ever home kit (Donatello) coincided with the Gillingham years. I say worst, I mean in terms of shirts, and not even thinking about blue and white striped shorts (thanks a lot Barry Lloyd).

All of the Gillingham era shirts were awful. The 97/98 kit was probably the worst in our history. Based on an old Man Utd away shirt with thick blue stripe and two little stripes with a kind of felt block stuck on the front of it with Sandtex on it. Away kit of Red and Blue that looked like a bad Palace kit. Same kind of material quality as those "Manchester U" and "Arsenal" shirts you see on sale in those gyppo "sale" shops off Oxford Street.
Followed up by the 98-99 kit with similar material quality and a big "Donatellos" stuck on the front. Really suited the quality of the football. Don't think i've ever worn them since we came back to Brighton.

God I'd forgotten about that one with the thick blue stripe. That was especially rubbish.

The cheap Sandtex patch stuck on the front was nasty.

That's the problem with Albion shirts, no one chucks the bloody things away! In amost 15 years of trawling charity shops for BHA booty, on the shirt front I've only ever scooped a TSB Chewits shirt and a kid's size NOBO home shirt. On the other hand, if it's used Premiership shirts you're after it's rich pickings in Sussex charity shops as your Sussex Blackburn, Man Utd or Liverpool fans usually become Arsenal or Chelsea fans the following season etc. etc.
