Although Burke may have signed him, Barber said at the Holbrook fans forum that he had a deal agreed for COG to recover the money we paid for him. Hughton vetoed this as he said he would get the best out of him. I think this was around the time he had a couple of decent games. Anyway, in summary, we paid over the odds for him, saw he was not up to it for half a season, did a deal to get our money back, and still kept him. To make matters worse, Hughton then decided later in the season that Best was an improvement. hence why this was the best paid team in Albion history.

The fact that Hughton has the final say on decisions like this is not a bad thing; in fact it's a very good thing.

This thread has gone on since early 2013.

Is there some way that threads can become 'Out Of Time' as obviously they become frustratingly boring when the subject matter subsequently relates to something completely different from that as referred to originally ?

This is fine. We don't want BG starting a new thread everytime he reads something on football forums.

Reffering to my previous post, why not delete the thread at certain times of season or alternatively require that they specify eg 'Transfer Rumours May, June, July 201* , as would make it easier to follow.

Here's a novel idea......... How about the mods keep changing the title of a thread to keep it "relevant"

Oh wait..............

Todays rumours are saying that somebody who posted spoke to Lewis Dunks brother in law who said Fulham and Newcastle had bids accepted and he has chosen Fulham to be near family with his wife and new baby.

Also Bristol City having been turned down by Gayle are now targetting Matt Smith of Fulham and preparing to put in an £8m bid:lolol:
