Football more important than money (Owusu)

Lloyd Owusu has revealed the chance to play regular football combined with the length of a contract means much more to him than money as he ponders his next career move.

The 32-year-old striker has been released by Cheltenham and is currently in Australia looking into the possibility of joining Adelaide United, while Brighton, where he spent the latter part of last season on loan, have also offered him a permanent deal.

Owusu is currently weighing up his options, but he is in no doubt as to what will sway his final decision.

He said: "I don't want to be going to a team where, don't get me wrong the money could be good, but I could be the fourth or fifth choice striker. I'm not really looking for that at the moment. I'm at a point in my career where I believe I know I can keep going. It's not all about money.

"Brighton have offered me a one-year deal with a further year option, but ideally I'm looking for a two-year deal if possible. But like I said, I am going to weigh up all my options and see what's right for me at the end of the day."

Speaking about his first impressions of Adelaide, Owusu added: "It's lovely to be fair. I've always wanted to come to Australia and see this beautiful country and Adelaide is nice."

Can't blame the guy I guess, if he choose Adelaide.

I think they've offered him 2 years, and we've offered 12 months.

Sounds like he's off Down Under. I'm not too disappointed, he's done a great job for us, but it's now job done and we move forward.

Yeah I think if I was at the same stage as he is currently in his career then I would choose Adelaide.
I doubt we are offering double what Adelaide are too.

Maybe it's just me, but I would have thought Oz (not the guy from Auf Wiedersehn Pet) was an attractive proposition for most Brits, I know it's not everyone's cup of char, but I bet the majority on here wouldn't turn down the offer of a life Down Under.
