Fantastic scheme that this Professor came up with - but to go into it seemingly having done no research on football is disrespectful I think.

You can't ask someone for tens of thousand pounds if you can't even be bothered to find out what they look like in advance - that takes about 15 seconds on google.

Theres a bit ofd a furore at the moment inthe nurses mags that the show does more bad than good, because of what a BINT she was.

I think it's completely rude and disrespectful.

The nurses are not paid enough that's a fact but begging to another industry in this way is disgusting.

and it's proving there are a lot of decent players out there - once you can get past the tossers that 'protect' them.

I thought Defoe came out of it very well. Seemed sincere and wanted to help and basically turned round and said he didn't realise how little nurses got paid for all the work they do.

Basically if you earn more than £1000 a week and you can't bring yourself to donate 1 days wages to a hardship fund then you are a tight fucker and I hope they all get ill and can't get decent healthcare due to a lack of nurses.

Student nurses get a bursary of £4k - £5k a year though don't they? Not bad being paid to earn a decent qualification and career.

Reading these comments makes me think a few of you did not actually watch the program.

These are the facts;

1. She was asking each prem player to give up one days wages.
2. If 100% succesful this would have totalled £1.5m
3. Her final total was actually £750k
4. The money was to be used to set up a 'Nurses Hardship Fund'
5. Her aims were political, rather than anything else. She was very clear about this. She did it as a gimmick to 'highlight the plight' of nurses. This is exactly why she targetted footballers - high profile.
6. She was lazy, relying solely on 'networking' and so far as we were shown doing no research of her own.
7. The individual Chelsea players didn't turn her down - she never got that far, as the club refused her access because they felt her campaign 'was political'. Which it was, so good on them.
8. Nigel Reo-Coker came across less of a nobber than I expected.
9. Jermaine Defoe, and his crooked agent 'Sky' got themselves a nice bit of PR.

That's about it.

Not if your parents earn more than 30 grand a year - a common misconception

As a level 3 HCA they would of given me a secondment. Which mean't that I would of been payed my wages whilst I was doing my training. I am not sure if other health authorities do this.

I didn't know that. My girlfriend got it but she was 25 when she started so they didn't consider parents incomes as she was classed as an independant student.

I actually don't think I am underpaid nor do my colleagues. We might moan about a lot of things on my ward but I have never heard anyone moan about their wages except when payroll f*** them up
