Nothing has actually been confirmed yet, but the contract is up at the end of this season. So it will be on for the rest of the season (apart from tonight).

There will still be highlights on bbc sport website. Usually 2 days after the game itself! We're prob have extended highlights if he was there!

BBC only have rights to show football league highlights on saturday nights.
Hence why there wasn't one on boxing day either, also wasn't one on new years eve because of the busy schedule.
Expected to be back on our screens within the next fortnight.

Having paid for the rights to cover the Football league, the BBC have now decided they can't afford to actually make the programmes. It will come back on January 14 but to have almost a month with no coverage of the fifth best supported league in Europe is pretty outrageous imho. Surely budget decisions come at the end of the season not half-way through? Yeah, I know you can see the goals on the website but that's not the point, the BBC are supposed to provide a highlights service on TV and they're not doing it.

There was an article in, I think the sun, where the bbc denied they are axing the show, that it was never going to be shown over christmas. Also they are in advanced negotiations to get the rights for next season and fully expect to keep airing it next season. I wonder if dropping it from the schedule over christmas is an attempt to play down its importance to the BBC while they try to negotiate the rights.

When do the highlights appear on the BBC website? That is their defence at the moment - yes, we have not been broadcasting the FLS but you can always catch the goals on the website. Erm, except they're not up there yet. The FLS is shown the evening after the afternoon's games, but how many days do we have to wait for them to appear online?
There was supposed to be one yesterday, but Kim Jong Nige embargoed its showing.
