This is of course posturing but that doesn't mean it won't go ahead. The other big teams might well relish the thought of the championship without the red prats from Italy.
Also, there are number of other companies very interested in entering the arena as there have been suggestions there may be as many as 26 cars on the grid next year.

I suppose if Ferrari quit, they may take with them the other big teams and form their own racing championship which is what was threatened several years ago. Not necessarily ideal but it would be interesting to see how the poisoned dwarf reacted to that challenge to his authority!

£40m in F1 terms is a drop in the ocean for the big teams, no wonder Ferrari are kicking off. The LAST thing they want is a level playing field.

Vodafone alone paid Ferrari £25m to have their sponsorship on the car.

Ferrari would prefer it if the sport was prohibitively expensive so that they would win a 4-team non-event every year, rather than play on an equal-setting with the others!

Other things falling outside the budget cap are engine costs, marketing and promotion, plus team principals' wages.
