What did he have to say post match? I've checked the BBC website & post match comments were from the Asst Manager. He's not boycotting BBC now is he?

I heard him a few weeks ago saying he didn't understand why CMS came to Brighton; hopefully he will now.

Harley gives Poyet easy ride to the top

Brighton & Hove Albion 2 Peterborough United 0

By Nick Szczepanik at AMEX Stadium

Gustavo Poyet, the Brighton manager, described his team's start to the season as "a dream" after they had won their opening three matches, and there are few signs that they are going to wake up. Last season's League One champions eased to the top of the npower Championship yesterday, beating a team that had scored seven in their previous League match. A few hours earlier, Brighton had learned that they will welcome Liverpool in the third round of the Carling Cup. On this form they will relish a visit from Kenny Dalglish and Co.

"We need to be careful and not get carried away, but there's no happier manager in England than me," Poyet said. "I always said when I came here and we were in the bottom four – and all last season – that we are where we deserve to be. We have worked for this. We are enjoying and learning."

Peterborough, usually prolific scorers, could have done with a few of their goals surplus against Ipswich eight days ago, but they were unable to make the most of their chances, and made life even more difficult for themselves by gifting Brighton the opening goal after 10 minutes. Paul Jones, the goalkeeper, hurried a clearance under pressure from Ashley Barnes and Craig Noone fastened on to the ball before shooting low past Jones's left hand.

Peterborough played their way into the match but were hampered by the loss of George Boyd with a knee injury.

Brighton continued to pass at speed and look more dangerous in possession, and doubled their lead after 64 minutes. Barnes was fouled 30 yards out and Ryan Harley, on his League debut after being signed from Swansea City to be the team's dead-ball specialist, swerved the free-kick over the defensive wall into the top corner. "I needed a specific player with certain qualities," Poyet said. "We got the one we were looking for."

In true family style, Darren Ferguson, the Peterborough manager, did not speak afterwards – he was off on holiday – but his assistant Kevin Russell said: "For long periods there wasn't much difference between the teams, but we didn't have a cutting edge."

Brighton & Hove Albion (4-1-2-3): Ankergren; Calderon, Greer, Dunk, Painter; Bridcutt; Harley (Sparrow 71), Dicker; Barnes, Mackail-Smith (LuaLua 90), Noone (Navarro 71).

Peterborough United (4-3-1-2): Jones; Little, Bennett, Zakuani, Alcock; Frecklington, McCann, Rowe; Boyd (Tunnicliffe 34); Taylor (Ball 60), Tomlin.

Referee Gavin Ward (Surrey).

Man of the match Noone (Brighton).

Match rating 8/10.

Looks like Fergie, the Red Nose baby is going to plough the same indignant and arrogant furrow as the old man. I still don't get how he remains a knight of the realm after his arrogant, petty, rude and often spiteful outbursts.

Look at this list here and I think we can all see the obvious and glaring mistake

Sir Stanley Matthews

Sir Alf Ramsey

Sir Bobby Charlton

Sir Geoff Hurst

Sir Bobby Robson

Sir Alex Ferguson

Ferguson Jnr is a classic example of nepotism in football. Would never have been offered a manager's position without the family name. It's who you know, isn't it?

Forget that, the other Scot, Dougie Freedman...saw him on the footy league show last night and he looks like a bloody drug addict. Baby Fergie's alright though.

I never realised that arrogance was genetic. Just because Daddy throws a hissy fit and doesn't talk to the media, junior thinks he can do the same. Utter twonk.

In fairness to Son of PurpleNose (and I hate being fair to that particular clan), DF is nowhere near as bad as his father in dealing with the press. This was the first time I've known him swerve the post-match stuff. His dad, though, is a joke. All the quotes you read in written press reports actually come from MUTV, because he simply never shows up after matches, except for European games - Uefa take a tougher line than the Premier League.

It actually makes Old Trafford one of the easiest places to work for a match reporter. At most grounds you use the manager's post-match quotes in a Sunday report then hope he'll do a bit extra for the Mondays, or hang around hoping for some pearls of wisdom from players who usually blank you as they stroll past with iPod headphones stuck in their ears. At OT everything's straightforward as far as the home team is concerned - you tape Ferguson's comments from MUTV for the Sunday report, then those of the single player they put up on MUTV for the Monday. Simple, you know for a fact that that's all you'll get so you can eff off back to the tram stop and return to civilisation ASAP.

In purely footballing terms there is a lot to admire in Ferguson junior in terms of attacking football.

Why not the teams have a 2 week break before the next game so 7 days away isn't out of the question provided of course he is not going to get any more players from daddy before Wednesday to help him out.

Ten minutes after full time?

May have been rushing off to the airport to meet partner for evening flight. I once went to a Brighton home game at Withdean and son took wife and the cases to Gatwick and I went straight there by train to meet her, so if I can do it I am sure he could.

I didn't realise he had a new woman in his life. I wonder if he's given her a good kicking yet?
