there is a WELL nice pub in bramber, with a garden backing onto the river. its quite old, but i cant remember for the life of me what it is called now

ive always enjoyed the windmill and the potters in burgess hill, and the red lion in lindfield is pretty good as well

I believe its the Kings Head that you are referring to. A very good pub garden and pretty good food.

location location
Or The Anchor Inn Barcombe. Lovely location by the river, great garden, food and drink, ideal for the kids and you can hire a boat to take out for an hour or two.

When you can get to it - if the river hasn't burst it's banks.

NB you can paddle up stream and you'll end up at the Griffin in Fletching (see earlier)

Personally I don't think you can go far wrong with the Trevor Arms in Glynde, which takes some beating garden-wise.

The Laughing fish in Isfield is none too shabby either
