Copied the Who
Copied Motown
Eventually sorted his own style?

Not a massive fan, although I quite like his stuff.

Does he really deserve the Legend status he seems to have?

Who voted Style Council?

Dandyman

In London village.
The Jam were one of the best ever British groups, but to compare a 19 - 24 year old's songs with a 40something year old's output seems a little odd. Wild Wood and Stanley Road along with various individual later tracks are great but come from a different era and outlook than In The City/Down in the Tube Station../Going Underground.

The Jam spunk all over the style council and his solo stuff. Obviously his solo stuff is far better than the style council stuff.

In defence of the council, although all of the clothing/image and most of the music was dross, they did come out with a few decent tunes and I'd have to say give me them over the tedious solo stuff anyday. Now where did I put my white trenchcoat?
