It's a tough one.

When I was growing up the first Bond I grew to know and love was Roger Moore, as he was the one making movies at the time. However as I got a little older I discovered the older films with Connery and fell in love with his suave style. He seemed somehow more sinister and less cheesy than Moore. Plus one of my all time favourite Bond moments is a Connery classic:

[yt]bcNGYRKBfHA[/yt]

I also think Brosnan did a very decent job despite some dreadful films. Goldeneye was the only good effort he was involved in but he always did the role justice.

Timothy Dalton, as others have said, didn't really get a fair crack of the whip. His two films weren't bad, and he made the role a bit more serious after Moore's slapstick.

And then we have our current Bond, Mr Craig, who I wasn't very optimistic about at all when he was first announced. However he has done a STERLING job and Casino Royale was an absolute BELTER so I'm very much looking forward to seeing more of him. Quantum of Solace was a bit damp by comparison but he still put in a good shift.

The fact of the matter however is that whenever ANYONE does a Bond impression, it is inevitably Connery's shaucy, scotch accshent that they adopt, so I'd say he is truly THE quintessential Bond.

It kind of depends on my mood as to which Bond was best. If I had to pick then it would be Craig as I like the new slightly dark and sinister side he's brought to the role rather than the slapstick of Moore and Connery.

Slapstick?

Moore - Yes, as lightwight as they come

Connery - No, certainly sardonic but clearly a bit of a bastard

Can't say I would cross the road to watch any of the modern Bond Films, I think the Bourne franchise has rather stolen their thunder....

Has to be Daniel Craig, Bond was dying a death until he resurrected it with the finest Bond film ever 'Casino Royale'

Tough question!! Connery was perfect for the 60's while Moore was perfect for the 70's. I grew up with Roger Moore as JB, but his movies are now considered lightweight. The 80's change to Dalton was just too big a change for most people. Brosnan was very handsome, but as he said, never really got JB. Daniel Graig's CR was amazing! he banged it on the head first time!! unfortunately, he totally lost it on that crap second film. Each actor has made good and bad Bond films, and as long as the movie is right, it doesn't matter! Sean Connery [most peoples favourite] could not of pulled off Roger Moore's films, and neither could RM vice versa!

anyone not voting for connery or moore needs their head checking. The others are just clinging on to their coat tails.

Connery
Brosnan
Moore
Craig
Dalton
Lazenby (Good film, crap Bond)

Although Craig is likely to push up the table after a couple more films.

Missing Lazenby off the list leads me to say: "stop getting Bond wrong"

Moore for me, the perfect combination of suave and fromage.

Best film - The spy who loved me.

Girl - Barbara Bach - check.
Baddie - Jaws - check.
Enemy HQ - underwater lab - check.
Strong lead female character who initially resists Bond but falls for him in the end - check.
Corny line - "it looks like he's keeping the British end up" - check.

What's there not to like?!

Amphibious Lotus, check. Great film.

This

Have to say OVERALL Connery

HOWEVER Live and Let Die, MWTGG, and the Spy Who Loved me are three GREAT Moore films. Then they declined really.

A shoe in for OHMSS (best theme EVER) as Fleming fans site that as the best along with FRWL as two that stick closer to the novels.

If it wasnt for Dalton dispensing with the gadgets and being more gritty we probably would have not have had stuff like Bourne.

They're all very good apart from Daniel Craig.
He looks like Sid James but without the smile, plays Bond like a stroppy teenager. Quantom of Solace is probably the worst film i've ever seen at the cinema

Not the best, but I had to vote for Dalton as License to Kill is one of my favourites, mainly for that gruesome shark execution.

Vankleek Hill, actually....
Before the franchise was rebooted, Timothy Dalton in "The Living Daylights" was the best Bond.

However Daniel Craig has added some darkness to the character which none of the others were able to match and I think is closest to the concept of Bond in the books.

And Eva Green is a hottie.

Connery then Moore and Brosnan for me.

I don't mind Daniel Craig but I hate the new Bond movies. I don't like the way they have become super-serious and over complicated. I want my Bond with lots of gadgets, girls, one-liners, stunts and big baddies.
