Most Chinese food is pretty poor - bland, rubbery chicken packed out with waterchesnuts and other fillers, submerged in MSG, yeuch.

A halfway-decent Thai or Indian is streets ahead of Chinese.

That's said, I'm still impressed that our local, Happiness Garden, has some device on their phone that shows your address when you call, so you don't need to tell them it. Perfect if you're too pissed to do remember. Your takeaway will still be delivered!

Convinced i was alone in my local Chinese takeaway a few weeks ago, i released a shrill and offensive wind. Obviously, i'd forgotten how small some people can be. An aged CHinese head appeared from behind the counter (it wasn't what i ordered), and my newspaper shook with embarassed laughter.

Funnily enough, i'd gone for black beans.
