Fatboy Slim got 15 electric shocks on his New Year's Eve party
DJ Fatboy Slim is to stage a music party on Brighton seafront for up to 22,000 revellers on each of two evenings.

Brighton and Hove City Council has approved the concerts, in September, between 1700 BST and 2130 BST.

Fatboy Slim, aka Norman Cook, will top the bill on one night, with other artists expected to star on the other.

Residents with a Brighton postcode will get priority for the ticket-only party, to be held on Madeira Drive.

Meet costs

It will take place on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 September.

Promoter Loudsound Events was granted consent to stage the party provided it meets the costs of all the recommended safety and operational measures.

The DJ's last Brighton beach party, Big Beach Boutique 3, was staged in torrential rain on New Year's Day 2007.

He received 15 electric shocks from his record decks.

A party held in July 2002 ended in chaos when 250,000 people turned up - far more than expected.

I got soaked at the last one. This is a much better time of year and should be a great party but I wish it was in the middle of summer. The problems in 2002 were caused by it being a free-for-all, not time of year.

techno has two meanings -- it's funny -- for europeans they mean stuff with no vocals, really underground "hard" stuff -- for americans, when they say "techno", often they mean what in europe is called "dance". And "dance" in europe is a lot more mainstream and pop-oriented
