Good point, but whilst i don't condone what he did he has always mantained through thick and thin his beliefs about marjuina being used for medicinal purposes and that is is not a killer and has stuck up for it through thick and thin no matter what trouble he has got into.

Also the fact his wife had cancer contributed to his departure.
