Don't underestimate the cunning of LDC. Ruth Kelly will have to say why she rejects the 16 points raised by Lewes except the boundary thing where she will agree. So, LDC lawyers will go through her answers and will no doubt find new points to raise sufficent to seek another Judicial Review which will lead to more delay.

The only thing that can stop them is public opinion. If they know that they are losing their voters over spending more time and money then they may just accept Kelly's decision. That is why the Seagulls Party is so important and why there must be a continuing campaign to convince folk that Falmer is the only place that can be considered for a new stadium. It's why we cannot ignore stupid anti Falmer letters in local papers and must respond.

Believe me I don't underestimate them. I'm sure they will try absolutely anything to get their way. They certainly haven't let silly things like honesty, openness and democracy get in their way up until now and that's the way it will remain.

We need to keep the pressure on them, but even so I'm still optimistic that once we get the next yes from RK, LDC will fast run out of legal options to get their unpopular, undemocratic and underhand way.

NEWS FROM CORPORATE MANAGEMENT TEAM (CMT): 4 OCTOBER

Following concessions this week from the Government's lawyers, (which the Council has been seeking since the early summer) LDC has now decided to accept a Consent Order quashing John Prescott's decision made in October 2005 to grant planning permission for a football stadium at Falmer. This ends LDC's legal challenge to Mr Prescott's decision and refers the whole matter back to the new Secretary of State, Ruth Kelly. The latest Government concessions have provided LDC with legal assurances that Ms Kelly will reconsider key parts of Mr Prescott's flawed decision, particularly those concerning protection of the South Downs and evaluation of alternative sites. So, the whole saga still has a bit further to go.

Hadn't you heard?

There were 5 new planets found in our Solar System earlier this week, and because of another Prescott loophole, legally, the club has to prove that none of those 5 new planets are suitable venues for our new stadium. The grounds for considering these new planets were that Withdean has no atmosphere, so why can;t you build on a planet with no atmosphere
