PLEA TO JP FOR 2005

Now come on Johnny Prescott, please get off your flippin a**e,
And reach across your desk mate, for the rubber stamp marked PASSED,
Can't you see we've shown the patience, of all the Saints combined,
We've sat and watched our rivals build while we've just lagged behind,
We need Falmer for survival, the future we deserve,
Not one of counting down to death in some nature reserve,
Yes life's protected inside, but that doesn't cover us,
A seabird forced to rent a nest, while causing untold fuss,
We never wanted all this grief, this trouble and this strife,
We never asked for moneymen to almost take our life,
We never asked to trek to Kent or nearly leave the league,
Though we've fought back, the efforts left us suffering fatigue,
We've marched, and had a massive vote to gauge the public's view,
Sent flowers, letters, postcards and a Valentine to you,
Sat through all the enquiries, provided all the facts,
Done all the flaming studies (and it won't affect the bats),
We've even put a record out, to ram the message home,
It climbed high in the music charts, and made the NIMBYs groan,
We've done as much as we can do, exhausted all ideas,
And now it all boils down to you, to banish all our fears,
Please let us build ourselves a home, this City needs a crown,
So that it's known for something more than watching piers fall down,
We just want our own ground again, in Sussex by The Sea,
A stadium not just for us, but the community,
A place where young and old can come and cheer with all their might,
And watch this County's famous team run-out in Blue and White,
A firm and solid base to grow and give us back some pride,
And finally welcome back our fans to come and watch inside,
But right now we're so tired John, and given all we've got,
Waiting to hear if you will just approve the thing or not,
So after this next enquiry, and in 2005,
Give us the YES we've waited for and keep our club alive!
