STEVE Bruce has put the block on a loan move to Brighton for Marcos Painter.

The Blues boss confirmed that the Seagulls had asked him about available play-ers, but he would not play ball just yet. Dean White, joint caretaker manager with Dean Wilkins in the wake of Mark McGhee's departure, revealed this week that they had spoken about Blues' fringe players. Bruce said: "Brighton wanted Marcos, and I do need to get him out playing football. But, with the problem we have got down the left-hand side at the moment, I couldn't let him leave." Irish under-21 international Painter made his only appearance of the season at left-back in the Carling Cup victory over Wrexham on Tuesday. Sone Aluko made his debut for England under-18s last night in a 2-0 defeat by France.

Rubbish - we have been playing patient football from the back from the beginning of the season, that's how we frustrated league leaders Forest for so long. The most direct our play has been this season has been in the first half against Bournemouth.
