My MD had £ 10 on them before the tourney started @ 100/1.

I said to him, might as well give me the tenner, so he offered me 70/1 to put my money where my mouth was, fortunately i turned the offer down, but he insisted i put the bet on for him. Oh how me and the girls at ladbrokes laughed as i handed over the £ 10.

And the rest as they say is history.

He still, every now and again, shows me the photo copy of the betting slip just to wind me up.

I followed Ferret's tip on Guy a few seasons ago. I had a tenner at 50/1 on him scoring the first goal, a tenner on him scoring the last goal at 50/1 and a tenner on him to score at any time at 14/1. £1,140 from a £30 stake.
I have to admit though that was small change compared with the return on Megson becoming Bolton manager, thanks Giraffe...

When Greece played the Czech Republic, I was cheering the Czechs on. Why? Because I had a double on Czechs winning and Baros being top scorer - I was set to net £750 if the Czechs won the cup as Baros was streets ahead on goals. Bloody greeks.

£1 and got about £275 back! Also bet on big chris to score and won an extra £15 or so.

It wasn't 50's it was 10's! My memory is not great! But it was definitely the 2000-01 season as we didn't win the title in the 1999-00 season.
