The Adventures of Mr Pinkwhistle by Enid are a very dubious set of stories. He can make himself invisible whilst 'keeping an eye' on his friends (two little girls) so that no bad happens to them!
All very innocent, apparently...

Written now, of course, they'd be called

Five Get Given Detention

Five Film A Happy Slapping

Five Get Arrested For Robbery

Five Get Anihilated On WKD Blue

and

Five Get Themselves An ASBO

or Five solve the riddle of 3 + 2

I'm behind you!
I have a (Enid Blyton's) hand written envelope showing my name, also my address of that time, and bearing a very clear '1953-Beaconsfield' post mark. Inside is a printed flier of her photo and a personal autograph to me, again in her hand-writing.

I found an Enid Blyton Noddy book from the 70s when I cleared out my parents' attic. I read it to my little boy. In it, a gypsy family parks their caravan illegally in the field behind Noddy's house, feed him loads of sweets then steal his car. When Noddy reports it to the police, Mr Plod won't help because he'd earlier told him to steer clear of those gypsies!

Anyway, you'll be relieved to know that Big Ears saved the day and Noddy got his car back. But whether my 6 year old will form a more politically correct attitude to travellers in time I'm not sure.

I remember these, it was done by mainly the cast from the Young Ones.

If I remember rightly Timmy the dog died about 10 times in each episode!

Part of the timelessly-superb Comic Strip - Five Go Mad In Dorset and Five Go Mad On Mescaline.
