When he took off TAA, which obviously wasn’t working, why did he bring on Gallagher, another defensive midfielder. Why not bring on another creative player, Palmer, Eze, Gordon, all could have made a difference. Denmark played one up front, we had 2 cbs and 2 defensive midfielders marking him.
Because as a former defender, his mindset has always been defensive.

With England's best crop of attacking midfielders at his disposal, he continually proves that he doesn't know how to handle them.

They and our hopes have been wasted on him.

In the post-match interview, Southgate's bemoaned the fact that "we don't have a replacement for a Kalvin Phillips".

That speaks volumes.

When it comes to Palmer, Eze or Gordon, how can you describe a rainbow to someone who's blind?

Exactly. Which of City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Villa, Us, Chelsea, United, Newcastle, Spurs, West Ham don't play a high energy Press

It's really not complicated

We beat a couple of South-East teams (and drew one, lost one) playing a walking football tournament a couple of weeks ago
Are you free next Tuesday?

Southgate does not back our centre backs to pass. That’s why Rice drops back between the centre backs to form a three to do the passing himself WHEN WE ARE IN POSSESSION FFS.
And doesn’t think a centre back is capable of passing more that five yards?
I’ll wager this is the absolute opposite of how Hürzeler will set us up.
Because he’s used to playing with Maguire and doesn’t think a centre back can pass more than five yards?

Yer it's funny. When dunk was interviewed before the tournament he said he would miss being in a pub garden watching it. He genuinely sounded like he meant it. Half the players probably wish they were on their holidays. Players have lost motivation to play for Southgate.
Ben White’s currently in Ibiza. Wise move

He couldn't pass today either so that made 3 of them.

Don’t get Bowen over Palmer if Bowen was our big summer signing I wouldn’t be excited
But he runs about a bit! Surely that’s all you need?

You may have just made a really good point. He does what he knows, and doesn't do what he doesn't know.

And it's easier to defend than to score goals......

Isn't that why he has a group of "genius" tacticians around him? Not just Southgate who has to go then!!

Which is odd given what a good range of passing Stones has, and that other fella too, didn't play today, forget his name... Bunk or something...

That was an interesting (shocking?) comment. What did Kalvin Phillips do? Before he took up full-time sitting on the bench and lying on the treatment table his game was all about playing in front of the back 4, running, closing down, winning the ball and laying it off, rinse and repeat. Did he do anything else?
