I think the so-called experts on the English game, like (ahem) Clive Tyldesley et al, are guilty of doing Croatia a great disservice, and have become caught up in the idea that they only qualified because of England's incompetence.

Granted, England were shit, but Croatia won that group because they have a bloody good side. It's typical of the patronising attitude that the English media frequently adopts towards what they regard as lesser footballing nations, that they consider it a major surprise when one such team pulls off a result against one of the football establishment.
