It'd have been understandable if i'd forgotten Gerrard after that second half......

WW, it wasn't intended as a criticism, I just thought that Neville put in a typically solid performance for England.

Oh fair enough - anyhow, you made me aware that i'd missed him out!!

THought he was good defensively, but his passing was sloppy

Robinson 7 - kept a cool head
Neville 7 - Steady
Ferdinand 7 - reliable at the back
Terry 6 - why so mistake-prone?!
A.Cole 7 - Provided some good moments down the left
Beckham 7 - lead well, superb free kick
Gerrard 7 - Great first half, nowhere to be seen second
Lampard 6 - some great long range efforts but did his usual disappearing act
J. Cole 8 MOM - Our very own Riquelme
Crouch 7 - nice flick ons and footwork
Owen 5 - clearly still not fit

Job done indeed.

Opening day nerves methinks - you can't underestimate Paraguay.

For my money - I waschuffed to bits when Downing came on, but he frustrated the hell out of me (falling over once or twice - bottled at least one tackle) - made you realise just how good Joe Cole is...

3 points and a wake up call - personally, I couldnt have hoped for much more.

Exactly, better to have turned in a curates egg of a performance in the first game and bagged the 3 points than to have done what we did against France last time out and come away with nothing. First game is always the most difficult, do not worry, this team can and will play far better than it did today.
