Enfield riots

On a more humourous note, wen through Brixton this morning where virtually every shop was smashed apart from Foot Locker which had been completely gutted by fire. Someone told me that the people who set fire to it were looters who having tried some shoes on couldn't find ones they wanted in their size to nick. Morrissey was playing in the Brixton Academy so must have been ironic with him sing Panic on the streets of London while it all kicked off outside.

Having been a 17 year old in August 1981 and now a 47 year old parent 30 years later, I'd say its worse. If we don't get on top of the situation early we could end in serious trouble, and is Call Me Dave really the man to stand up to these people?

Agree on that. The 80s were race riots and there was an underlying grievance. This disorder is based on age more than racial profile (plenty of white kids in there BNP fans) and suggests a deeper malaise in society as a whole.
