Emile Heskey - time for a recall

If anything last night showed that we NEED someone like Emile to come or even start against teams like Northern Ireland to act like battering rams to get through these defences intent on sitting on the edger of the box. There were a couple of excellent crosses put in last night that Heskey would have thrived on but nobody was there. Time to bring Rooney deep, drop that useless shit Gerrard and play Heskey and Owen up top again.

As for Rio Ferdinand, well, he can f*** off too.

Agree with the principle but not sure bringing Heskey back is the answer. The solution was sitting on the bench though. Darren Bent is a pretty big fella and was surely worth bringing on rather than a defensive midfielder.

Fair point. We have no height, it is an option any England manager would want on the bench.

I think most fans would prefer to see Heskey in that role than Crouch, but I might be wrong. He even did a job on the left at times and brought others into play. Worth considering (Christ we are getting desperate!).

Heskey has started the season well and IS dangerous in the air. Bent looks okay but is not the answer.

Heskey or Dean Ashotn, either will do.

:lolol: sledgehammer to crack a nut

How will picking Heskey improve the other 10 who haven't got a clue what they are supposed to be doing, a body language expert would have have had a field day last night

If Heskey is the answer, I really, really don't want to know the question.

Pearce has been a manager for 5 minutes and is still very much in his "honeymoon period" with City. It'll be intertesting to see how he reacts when they start getting a string of bad results (which is bound to happen sooner or later).

Pearce could well be one for the future, and I'd like to see him involved with England maybe in McLarens current role, but its a little soon to be talking about him taking over the England job IMHO.

because the other 10 players who play week in week out with a targetman up front. We need to hold the ball up. Maybe Heskey is a bit of donkey, but he's a very effective donkey when you want some donkey work done.

certainly the idea that we need some other dimension than owen/defoe/vasell is true. We do make it easy for teams to defend.

Hesky was diabolical in his last few games for England including giving France the ball for their winner in the Euro Championships. He is not the answer.

Agree with the possibility of a target man but a good quality example is hard to think of. Crouch and Heskey are not international class. Perhaps a powerful forward like Nathan Ellington might emerge as an option if he does well for West Brom. ???

I was only joking about Pearce, for the moment. But if you want passion from a manager who holds all the right coaching badges and seems to have his team playing for eachother then he looks like the man for the job.

Definitely get him involved in some way soon.
