Surely you don't have to write your own material to be considered an excellent performer.

No other field of entertainment is judged this way otherwise nearly every actor you see would be 'cack'.

He was brilliant from start to finish as a performer. People may not have liked his change in styles but that doesn't detract from his performances.

He was also a superb sound engineer and had a way of getting great sound from the limited equipment of his day. And would rarely give up until a track was perfect.

There is no singer alive or dead that had the vocal range or the ability to sound totally different on any 2 tracks, yet unmistakeably Elvis Presley.

He has more than endured the test of time and to simply call him 'cack' is uneducated.
