In light of how it looked at the time, I think he's pretty lucky to be able to walk in the near future. The injury itself is obviously horrendously unlucky.

That's what I should have said instead of "f*** f*** f*** f***!". I was in my own penalty area and the opposition goalie later told me he heard it break. To make matters worse it was a bank holiday which also happened to be April 1st so the ambulance took half an hour to get there due to holiday staffing shortages and my parents didn't initially come to the hospital because they thought it was an April fool. My brother did turn up with a copy of Shoot for me to read, the bastard, which took my mind off the casualty doctor and ambulance staff arguing about why they hadn't cut my boot off. Not one of my better days.

I got booted by a Horse and broke my Tibia and Fibula in 1985and was back on the mend in 3 months although it still gives me trouble today

I did a bit. I was at Newmarket sent up there for apprentice jockeyship and got done over by a horse within 2 hours of my 1st days work. Not a good start.
