With perfect timing, I arrived at Liverpool Uni in 1981, about a year after Eric's closed and the Bunnymen et al had gone to seek wider fame and fortune. Still in time for The Icicle Works and very early Farm though - and to buy one of the first Frankie Says Relax T-shirts outside St.John's Precinct just before I left. Then moved to Manchester - and left just before baggy really took off.
Bunnymen at the Brighton Centre 1987 - Only gig I've ever coming close to passing out at due to lack of oxygen in the mosh at the front. Staggered/weaved my way to the back of the hall and had to sit/lie down for about 20 minutes until I came round.
Think the only reason I got into them was because of all the hype surrounding 'Ocean Rain' critically acclaimed in NME as 'the best pop album of all time' (or similar).
