Ecclestone Quits as Dr Who

He lasted less time than McGann!

From the BBC: "He said that although talks to make David Tennant the 10th Doctor were taking place, other names may be put forward."

Seeing as the doctor can only regenerate 12 times this maybe be a very short return to the screens if each Doctor only goes for one series!

Oh and if he has quit, they'll HAVE to get him back for a one off to do the regeneration scene!

SAKE.

Get Tennant in, or get Paul McGann to finish what he started.

Well said Biscuit me old mukka.

McGann (with haircut) or David Tennant.

Anyway 12 times only came up in the Deadly Assassin, before then Pertwee had an outburst (twice) that he had lived for several thousand years (Mind of Evil for one) and it was Hartmell or Troughton said Time Lords can live forever "barring accidents" cant remember the story now.

Furthermore in the Five Doctors The Master was offered a complete new life cycle to help the Doctor.

Various script editors having their fun.

So I wouldnt worry about the 12 times business.

Please people stop all this crap about Frank Butcher and Big Ron. You know you wouldnt watch it if they were in it.

He said from the outset he didn't fancy another series - read that a few weeks ago in the papper. Not sure why BBC bothered. He's good but one series is lame.

Better if the Daleks killed him off in the first minute of the first episode.

Who?

I can't respond to that..

but I know a man who'd put you in your place.

:)

If the BBC offered Chris more money he would stay.. at least for a year!

Dunno whether Eccles cakes would stay for another year with more money...

After all Pertwee tried it and Barry Letts got the (at the time) unknown Tom Baker.

I have it on good authority that the job will be offered to Julian Clary.

Even though Ecclestone is a quality actor, I always thought Rik Mayall was the man for the job.

He is able to carry that certain eccentricity that fits the character of Dr. Who.

I 'grew up' with Tom Baker & his stare. Ecclestone just falls short of that IMO. He looks like he wants to smack you in the mouth, with arrogance ???

Billie Piper, however..........Mmmm........Yum Yum!
