should alcohol be banned from balding students who are 20? especially when they are drinking whisky and water in a student bar at 12?

Depends on the whisky. Some single malts and all unfiltered whiskies are better for adding a small amount of water. The whisky on offer in a student bar on the other hand is unlikely to fall into this category I grant you.

There is nothing wrong with a drop of water [nice tasting mineral water, mind you - horrible tasting water from the tap, is obviously going to make it taste horrible] in your malt.

Depends what your poison is.

Mine are Laphroig and Cuaran Reserve. The former I would never drink without water, the latter I would. No hard rule, on this.

I however he was drinking Bells or some such shit, then he would best have mixed it with a pint of lager.

Actually I am partial to a drop of Mccallum's and yes I have been known to put bit of water in it. BUT, the shite that they serve in the union makes me puke if you put water in it. Anyway, I'm a complete and utter philistine when it comes to spirits, Cognac - Cack, rough Spanish brandy -yum, yum. Oh, JD served in an iced glass with nothing added. Heaven.
