Well it doesn't really sound right though does it Nibble? But then again I'm not a scientist...

There are many misconceptions about the natural world. Why does it not sound right? It makes perfect sense, most nocturnal animals will try to find dark places when they are not hunting.

I don't really care if people believe it or not, it is a fact.

I still believe the old suggestion that they are attracted to light as they navigate by the moon, and in thinking the light is the moon they are attracted to it... also in another theory they polinate night flowering plants, which have bright flowers in order to be seen in the dark, thus attracting moths....

Onions. If you hold a piece of bread between your teeth and keep your mouth slightly open, not breathing through your nose the fumes that make your eyes water are breathed through the mouth and absorbed by the bread and you won't cry.

I knows my onions.

But what if the taste of bread makes you cry?

yes fluttering around the bulb, trying to get to what seems to be the darkest point of the room which is always behind the brightest bulb.

Look directly at a lit lightbulb, you will notice just around the edge of the bulb there is whatappears to be a dark ring. This is what the moths go for, of course when they get to the dark ring, it appears to be on the other side of the bulb so they bump round to get at it, where it appears to move again, hence the constant, infuriating quest.

I read this in BBC Science mag so maybe you can find it there.

Why is this so hard for you to accept?

the science isn't wrong its the way you presented the facts.

The moths are not attracted to the darkest part of the room, but to some optical mirage that fools their simple brain into thinking its darker.

Get it right.

Agreed, not much more annoying than a great fat furry moth bashing round your bedroom.

They have to be killed before I can go to sleep.

They're good. You can watch them spark and then smoke. The smell isn't great though. Also, there's nothing minging about Badminton.

Wooah ther Mr.C. If you actually look at what I have written I corrected myself to say what appears to be the darkest part of the room.

You are a bit f***ing uptight and a bit of a pompous twat. who the f*** are you to say"get it right".

Turning a good humoured thread into some little crux for your insecurities. TWAT
