But if you go back to the late 1980's / early 1990's there was a good reason Bull used to get in, there really was nobody else.

Lineker and Beardsley used to be the partnership. Hatley, thank goodness dissapeared from view. Robson never seemed to rate Alan Smith (no surprise) and Tony Cottee nor John Fashanu never really cut it at international level. At least Bull had a habit of coming off the bench and scoring now and then.

Going into the 1990 World Cup we had far less striker options than we have now.
