'Dotted' threads

Having been asked a question about the dots on threads it struck me that not everyone realises that they indicate threads you have contributed to. So for those people:

On the forum list - threads with a dot on the envelope indicates you have contributed to it.

I currently have 8 on the first page which for me is a lot.

How many do you have?

Why do I only get randomly "subscribed" to some of the threads I post on, Bozza? I used to get emails every time each one was updated.
