Different type of game.... Chelski did not show much ambition and the team set up was lined up more to avoid conceding rather than score.... I think the table does not lie and only by defending en masse did they get the 0-0 they wanted.... oh, plus ther should have been a penalty for the tug on Henry and Bollock should have been shown another yellow for his clothes line just outside the box... those two decisions would have turned it right round

what table doesnt lie?!?! my point made!! no one in spain could stop them at home! just find it amazing they've scored 140 goals and the first time they encounter a premier league team they cant score :)

Chelsea are a good defensive team, and had at least 10 behind the ball most of the time. Anyone would struggle against that.

Not as good as Chelsea (with an extremely defensive formation)?

Teams level on points are separated by:

1) The results of games between the teams in the tie (if tied, by goal difference and then by away goals counting double).

2) Goal difference in all group games.

3) Highest number of goals scored in all games.

4) Highest Uefa ranking over the previous five seasons.

Hmm. I think tonights result is an anachronism, Barca have scored twice as many goals in the group stages as Chelsea. when the game switches to 2 legs its a whole new ball game... so, what happens to your theory when Barca go 2 up in the return ?

I think it shows the state of English football rather than the state of Spanish football. How many time do we have 3/4 team in the semi finals?

Not sure Barcelona have scored 140 goals just against Spanish sides?!

Spanish sides consistently do well in the Champions League and the UEFA Cup - mid to lower sides have done well in this over the last few years (Espanol, Alaves, Sevilla, Getafe etc.) which cannot be said about similar English clubs.

Would place the Spanish league as the best or second best league in Europe.

Personally think Chelsea's lack of ambition in this leg is gonna cost them in the return, says more about a negative Chelsea than it does about Spanish football being shit imo. Barca vs Man U final.

Well, it depends on what you think makes a match/league good.

Which game was better the 1-0 game between liverpool and chelsea in the chapions league a few years back, or the 4-4 a couple of weeks back?

We talk about the beauty of the game, the tactical chess of a game, etc. but ultimately, we love to see goals.

I have a suspicion that you may well be right. Chelsea opening up to try and score at home means that Barca could well tear them apart. Should be a good game for the neutral.

Yeah European Champions, unbeaten in heaven knows how many matches and one of the favourites for next year's World Cup. I would hate to be as shit as Spanish football!

Bingo!

Plus on another night, Barca might well have stuck 3 or 4 past Chelski - & we've still got the return fixture to come..

I'd rather see the attacking play of Barcelona than Chelsea's butchery of the game. This doesn't mean that the Spanish league is shit, but confirms that Chelsea play bland, unambitious, boring football. Let's hope Barca score some away goals at the Bridge and make Chelsea pay for ruining the game.

140 goals! 1st 0-0 of the season! does that desribe how shit spanish football is!!!?

The varied teams that compete at the top of La Liga is brilliant, and makes it a superb league, but that's because I enjoy competition, and a changing environment.

The same top 4 year after year after year, just bores me to tears, no matter how good those 4 teams are. Give me La Liga over the Premiership any day.
